FAQs

How do I know if counselling and psychotherapy is right for me?

Exploring your difficulties with a professional counsellor/therapist in a confidential space can make a difference to the way you feel. Counselling and psychotherapy provides time for you to talk and explore
the problems that may be distressing or difficult for you. Only you can decide whether this may be helpful to you.

What causes emotional distress?

There are many factors that cause people distress, it may be childhood issues, bereavement, relationship problems and so much more. Most people will experience emotional pain and difficulties at some time in their lives.

What happens if you can’t help me?

This will become clear in the initial assessment session, in which case I will try my best to signpost you on to another professional.

How many sessions will I need?

When we meet for the first time, we can discuss your situation and then decide what is best for you in terms of sessions. Normally we would agree a few sessions to start with, and we can then review this and work on an open-ended basis, or agree another set number of sessions going forward.
