Counselling & Psychotherapy Services in Hertford

Psychotherapy offers the opportunity to explore any difficulties or issues you have, in a safe, confidential and professional space.

Life is sometimes difficult. It may be relationships, health, past
experiences, difficult feelings or other worries that cause us distress.
There are also times when we can feel depressed or anxious, and have a sense that we are not living the life we would like.

Often when life is stressful, we cope in the only way we know how.
These coping mechanisms do not offer us a way forward, instead they keep us doing the same old things.

At the moment, you might be feeling stuck, confused, sad or alone.
Perhaps you would like your life to be different, and you don’t know
where to start. Finding and accepting help can be hard. Remember you are not the only one to suffer emotional distress: it is a normal part of being human.

If we have physical pain or distress, we normally seek help straight away. There’s no difference with emotional pain or distress.

I am a Gestalt Psychotherapist and Counsellor, having studied at The Gestalt Centre London, Edinburgh Gestalt Institute, The New York Centre for Somatic Studies, and The University of Hertfordshire, I am also a registered Supervisor trained at The London Centre for Psychodrama. I am a Registered Osteopath and former nurse. My work as a Gestalt counsellor and Psychotherapist is enriched by a deep interest in philosophy and Buddhist psychology. These traditions influence the way I think about awareness, suffering connection and change, and I weave them gently into the therapeutic process where helpful to each client.

Previously I was Critical Care Nurse and I currently also work as a Registered Osteopath. My interest in health has always extended to mental health, and often neglected and taboo subject. I have a keen interest in the links between physical and emotional health and how they affect each other. My work as an Osteopath has brought me into contact with thousands of people suffering physical discomfort, and I am often struck by how much. underlying emotional distress many people suffer.

I have developed my Osteopathic approach with a focus on the role of emotional distress in physical ill health and discomfort. I believe physical and psychological health are inextricably linked. My interest developed to the point where I decided to train as a counsellor and psychotherapist , and spend more time working with the emotional aspects of health. I work with adults and couples in-person, coming with anxiety, depression, loss, and relationship difficulties, and much more.
